Word Tower: a falling-words typing game, online free

Yes. Word Tower is completely free, with no sign-up, no download and no in-app purchases. It runs in your browser on computers, tablets and phones, and your records and badges are saved on your device.

Word bricks fall into a well six columns wide. Type the word on a brick to clear it: the first letter picks the brick and each correct letter turns gold. Bricks that land stay in the tower and can still be typed away. If the tower reaches the top of the well, the game is over.

It is a falling-blocks puzzle in the same spirit: pieces fall into a well and the stack must not reach the top. The difference is that you do not move or rotate anything. You clear bricks by typing their words, so every game trains real typing speed and accuracy.

When landed bricks fill a row from wall to wall, the whole row turns into one golden phrase. Type that phrase to clear the entire row at once for a big bonus, and every brick above it drops down.

A bomb brick clears every brick touching it, an ice brick freezes the falling bricks for five seconds, and a gold brick is worth double points. Special bricks appear after the first few words of a game.

The falling brick closest to landing whose word starts with that letter; if no falling brick matches, the highest landed brick that does. New bricks try to start with letters no other brick on screen uses, so the first letter is almost always enough. Press Backspace to let go of a brick.

Each correct letter scores 5 points. A cleared brick scores 10 points per letter, half as much again if it was still falling, double for a gold brick, and all of it is multiplied by your combo: 1.5 times after 10 clean bricks in a row, 2 after 20 and 2.5 after 30. A golden row is worth 300 points plus 20 per letter.

Marathon goes on until the tower is full, and it speeds up every 20 words; choose Easy, Normal or Hard. Sprint 40 asks you to clear 40 words as fast as you can. The Daily tower is a Normal Marathon with the same words and bricks for everyone each day.

Yes. Marathon on Easy, Normal and Hard, Sprint 40 (fastest time) and the Daily tower all have free leaderboards for today, this week and all time when you type Words. You only choose a nickname if you want to join, and you can delete your scores at any time.

Yes. Choose Home row in the game menu and every brick uses easy words made of the keys A S D F G H J K L, perfect for learning to touch type. Home row games are not ranked on the leaderboards.
